Creating Hydrogen for a Mobile Generation
RIX hydrogen generator
systems enable the integration of
advanced fuel reforming and hydrogen purification technologies directly on-board mobile platforms, including marine vessels and heavy-duty logistic vehicles. The M2H2 Series is specifically designed to displace stored compressed hydrogen to support primary propulsion, auxiliary power systems, cold ironing and bunkering, and provides high purity (>99.97%) hydrogen on-demand that is scalable to support megawatt (MG) solutions.
The RIX Methanol-to-Hydrogen mobile generator system
provides direct, on-demand pure hydrogen (99.97%) for PEMFC
power systems from 100kW to MW's.
Advantages include:
• On-board, On-demand Fuel Cell Grade Hydrogen Production
• Eliminates need for stored Hydrogen
• Modular, scalable power support
• High energy efficiency: up to 82%
• Uses low-cost, low-volatility Methanol/DI water feedstock
• No NOx, no SOx, and no particulate matter
• Net ZERO CO2 emission with Renewable Methanol
• Low noise - Low vibration
• Designed for cyclic & variable operations
• Remote monitoring & reduced need for service and maintenance
Shipbuilders face a high bar in the shift to greener technologies – reduce carbon emissions by at least 50 percent by 2050. Hydrogen-on-demand is the key, eliminating the complexities of compressed cryogenic liquid hydrogen by tapping into safe, stable methanol as a feed source. Existing diesel tanks instead store liquid methanol at ambient conditions, and hydrogen systems drop into existing shipboard infrastructures with minimal retrofit while meeting decarbonization mandates.
On-demand fuel cell grade hydrogen generation produced from a tank of environmentally friendly, easily handled, low-cost, low-volatility hydrogen dense blend of methanol and DI water, increases the range beyond that which can be achieved with stored compressed hydrogen.
The M2H2 Series is designed to produce between 130 sL/m to 1,300 sL/m of hydrogen to support 10 kW to 100 kW fuel cell modules, and can be combined to support MW applications.
No NOx, SOx, or particulate matter, and provides a path to net-zero CO2 emissions through the use of renewable methanol.
The M2H2 Series incorporates innovative design features which reduces space and weight requirements when compared to stored high-pressure hydrogen tanks.
Advanced fuel reformer and hydrogen purifier are vibration resistant providing long lifetimes in a mobile environment.
Flexible and compact, the M2H2 Series will easily integrate into both vessels and vehicles.
The M2H2 Series produces low-pressure hydrogen on-demand, which is consumed by the fuel cell. As a result, no hydrogen is actually stored on-board, reducing regulatory hurdles.
Requires minimal electrical power (<700W) when generating hydrogen.
RIX’s web-based remote operation and monitoring system enables end-users to optimize performance in the field.
RIX Industries’ Methanol-to-Hydrogen (M2H2) generator systems deliver the highest volumetric density for hydrogen storage while providing the lowest cost and best logistic storage solution when compared to high pressure gas or liquid hydrogen alternatives.
Extends Range of FCEV
On-demand fuel cell grade hydrogen generation produced from a tank of environmentally friendly, easily handled, hydrogen dense blend of methanol and DI water, increases the range of FCEVs beyond that which can be achieved with stored compressed hydrogen.
Reduces Space and Weight Requirements
The compact M-Series incorporates innovative design features which reduces space and weight requirements when compared to stored high-pressure hydrogen tanks.
No Stored High-Pressure Hydrogen
As the M-Series produces low-pressure hydrogen which is consumed by the fuel cell. Almost no hydrogen is actually stored on the vehicle, reducing regulatory hurdles.
Scalable to Support 30 kW to 50 kW Fuel Cell Solutions
The M-Series is designed to produce between 65 kg/d to 100 kg/d of hydrogen to support 30 kW to 50 kW fuel cell modules.
Vibration Resistant
Advanced fuel reformer and hydrogen purifier are vibration resistant providing long lifetimes in a mobile environment.
Minimal Power Requirements
Requires minimal electrical power (<700W) when generating hydrogen.
Reduced Emissions
No particulate matter, and low CO2 emissions. If renewable methanol is used, zero net CO2 emissions.
Easy Integration
Flexible and compact, the M-Series will easily integrate into both mobile vehicle and marine platforms.
