If Supplementary Technical Requirement STR-701 “Hazardous Material Minimization in Electronic/Electrical and Commercial Components and Maintenance Equipment” isincluded in Appendix B of this purchase order, the supplier shall comply with this coded note and STR-701. [Text deleted] These requirements specify hazardous material minimization, identification, and documentation requirements for the material / equipment to be delivered on this purchase order.pecify hazardous material minimization, identification, and documentation require The following are excluded from the requirements of this coded note: (1) a hazardousmaterial that is an impurity, i.e., a trace amount that is not an ingredient and does notcontribute to the function or usefulness of the material/equipment; (2) a hazardousmaterial that is an ingredient in a metal alloy, except for Lead in a concentration greater than 1 percent in Brass or Bronze.If the supplier determines that the material / equipment contains hazardous materialsas defined in STR-701, The supplier shall send a completed “Supplier Hazmat ReviewForm” (NN9168, available on the HII-NNS website) prior to the first shipment to:ESOHEngineering@hii-nns.comorNewport News ShipbuildingAttn: ESOH Engineering (Dept O27)4101 Washington AveNewport News, VA 23607If the material / equipment contains mercury, mercury compounds, and/orpolychlorinated biphenyls (PCBS), the supplier shall use the Vendor InformationRequest (VIR) process described in Appendix A-NNS Supplement of this purchase orderto justify its use and obtain approval from Newport News Shipbuilding prior toshipment. The supplier shall include a completed “Supplier Hazmat Review Form” (NN9168).The supplier shall send the “Supplier Hazmat Review Form”(NN 9168) only once torepresent multiple shipments of the same material / equipment. If a change in the type, quantity, or application of hazmat in the material / equipment is necessary, the supplier shall identify the changes in a completed “Supplier Hazmat Review Form” (NN 9168) and send prior to shipment.If Appendix B of this purchase order does not include Supplementary TechnicalRequirement STR-701 “Hazardous Material Minimization in Electronic/Electrical andCommercial Components and Maintenance Equipment”, the supplier does not haveto comply with this coded note.
