Clause:

If Appendix B of this purchase order includes a section titled “Hazardous MaterialMinimization”, the supplier shall comply with the following restriction:The material/equipment required by this purchase order item, including any coatingsapplied to the material / equipment, shall not contain the following hazardousmaterials:Asbestos; Barium Metal and Compounds; Boron Triflouride; Brass with >1% Lead;Bronze with >1% Lead; Cadmium [Text deleted] Metal and Compounds, ChromiumMetal and Compounds; Lead Metal and Compounds; Mercury Metal and Compounds;Class I Ozone Depleting Substances (as defined in Code of Federal Regulations 40CFR82,Subpart A, Appendix A); Polychlorinated Biphenyl Compounds (PCB); Selenium Metaland Compounds; Silver Metal and Compounds.The following are excluded from the requirements of this coded note: (1) a hazardousmaterial that is an impurity, i.e., a trace amount that is not an ingredient and does notcontribute to the function or usefulness of the material / equipment; (2) a hazardousmaterial that is an ingredient in a metal alloy, except for Lead in a concentration greaterthan 1 percent in Brass or Bronze.If a change in the type, quantity, or application of hazmat in the material / equipment isnecessary, the change must be approved by Newport News Shipbuilding prior toshipment using the Vendor Information Request (VIR) process described in Appendix A -NNS Supplement of this purchase order. The VIR shall include a Supplier HazmatReview form (NN 9168), a description of the change, and how to physically distinguishbetween the old and new material/equipment (serial numbers, model numbers,physical appearance, etc.).If Appendix B of this purchase order does not include a section titled “HazardousMaterial Minimization”, the supplier does not have to comply with this coded note
